Installing XMap Tools 4 for Mac

Resister & Download (free)
Register your user name and email address and download the XMap Tools 4 Zip file.


Unzip the Zip file and click installer

→ Apple menu

→ system preferences

→ Security & Privacy

→ General

→ unlock (lower left key)

→ Install XMap Tools (Open anyway)


It takes time to open.



Let's plot the result of micro-XRF mapping using Xmaptools.

This is a Fe intensity map (raw data, png file). But the colour is not very easy to see the differences of intensity.



1. Prepare txt file (raw data) of XRF mapping
2. Import data into Xmaptool



3. Select a file and import data
4. The map is added to Others (in this case) in the upper left
5. map file generated by xmaptools



6. we can change the range of intensity to identify the minerals.


7. You can also add a scale bar.

8. Save the map as jpeg file .

Currently, we can only do this for the results of the micro-XRF mapping. In the future, we can use more functions such as random forests/pca/k-means clustering to obtain the modal abundance etc.
